Prayer for March 29: Please pray with me. God who feeds us, come and nourish us. Just as you fed the Israelites in the desert as they wandered for 40 years, feed us. Just as Christ ate with his disciples at the Last Supper and taught them how to serve, feed us. Feed us with your love, hope, grace, forgiveness, and mercy. Let these things nourish our very being and strengthen us to go out to share these with others who hunger for you. When you encounter us, you change us in ways we cannot imagine. Help us to share those encounters with others. There are so many who are empty. Use us to fill them with your goodness. Amen.
Prayer for December 21: Please pray with me. God who is, today we pray that you would help us to see that our politics are not your politics, that your ways are much higher than our ways. Help us to see that our divisions and loyalties to party and ideology and right thinking cause untold problems, pain, division, and destruction. Remind us, slap us if you must – that in you there are no divisions, all are one in Christ. Amen.
Prayer for December 6: Please pray with me. God who gives gifts, today we remember St. Nicholas. He gave gifts to so many, yet the greatest gift he shared with others was your Son. As Bishop, he served the people of Smyrna and shared Christ’s gifts of love, peace, grace, mercy, and forgiveness so they could continue to share these gifts with others. Open our hearts and hands to receive these gifts, so that we can open our mouths to speak words of mercy and forgiveness. Open our arms so that we can share love in the form of an embrace. Open our eyes so we can see you and serve. Amen.
