Prayer for August 8

Prayer for August 8: Please pray with me.  God of Love, who is love itself, we thank you for the love you have and give.  Help us to understand what love really is – it is not controlling, but freeing. It doesn’t judge, but accompanies.  It does not demand, but rather encourages.  Love is not conditional, but rather unconditional.  Allow us to experience this kind of love.  And in experiencing it – give us the courage to also give it to others.  Amen.

Prayer for July 24

Prayer for July 24: Please pray with me. God of the unexpected, today we ask that you surprise us.  Open our eyes to see and our ears to hear your Word anew.  Help us to hear your word of grace and love for those around us – friend and foe.  Help us to see the humanity of those around us.  Remind us that our job is not to judge and force others to be like us and adopt our version of “right.” Instead our job is to respond to the grace and love you give us by being wheat in the midst of weeds – to live differently, to proactively live out the kingdom, to forgive, to love, to care, to be peacemakers. Amen

Prayer for July 3

Prayer for July 3: Please pray with me.  God who loves, today we ask that our hearts and minds are touched by your unconditional love.  Open our hearts and minds to seeing the humanity of others, especially those we consider our enemies.  Because you offer us grace and mercy, turn our hearts to offer grace and mercy to others.  Amen.

Prayer for May 31

Prayer for May 31: Please pray with me. Holy God, we pray for an end to violence – senseless violence, domestic violence, relationship violence, religious violence, political violence, violence directed at individuals and groups because of skin color, sexual orientation, nationality, gender, age, physical ability, helplessness, and more.  In place of violence, let your love flow.  Amen.

Prayer for April 25

Prayer for April 25: Please pray with me. God of innocence, today we pray for infants. Bless them and keep them Lord. They don’t know anything about this world. They can’t speak. Yet they know a universal language and use it well – love. We have much to learn from these infants – help us to receive love unconditionally like an infant.  Amen.

Prayer for March 13

Prayer for March 13: Please pray with me.  God of labor, today we pray for all who labor and toil.  We thank you for the ability to work.  We thank you for the vocation you call us to.  Bless our labors and remind us that we labor not just for money, but to fulfill our call in life – to live out the Gospel, to be a light to the world, to be an example of forgiveness in an unforgiving world, and to speak words of mercy, love, and peace to those who so desperately need to hear them.  Amen.
