Prayer for November 8: Please pray with me. Omnipresent God, we come to you with so many questions and doubts. And yet, you open your arms to us and listen. How crazy is that? You, the one who created the universe and everything in it, are willing to listen to a tiny speck of life who is here for just a fleeting moment in time. Yet you do. You listen to each one of us – with our questions, our doubts, our anger, our sorrow, and so much more. We thank you for listening Holy One. And for speaking words of life to us. Help us to listen and respond to your Word. Move us to respond in action to what you call us to. Amen.
Prayer for May 20: Please pray with me. Mysterious God, today we pray to be blessed by mystery. Release us from the bondage for desiring to have answers – about you, about the world, about the Bible, about creation, about others, about ourselves. Help us to live in the uncomfortable truth that we really just don’t know. Help us to ask unanswerable questions. And make us open to hearing responses that lead to more questions, not more answers. Amen.
Prayer for April 19: Please pray with me. Accompanying God, today we ask that you walk with us when we are uncertain. As much as we would love to have a clear vision or voice from you of what we are supposed to do, we know that your ways are mysterious and beyond our ways. Help us to dwell in the discomfort of uncertainty of life, of unanswered questions, raised concerns, and questioned assumptions. Not for the sake of being uncomfortable, but rather so that we can wrestle with these things and gain a better understanding and insight into truth. Help us to change our attitudes and beliefs to align with reality and your will for us. And forgive us when we try to change reality and your will to our own wants and selfish desires. Amen.
Prayer for April 4: Please pray with me. God of faith, today we prayer for all who have questions and doubts. May their inquisitiveness be a blessing to all and remind us that we are limited in our understanding of you. Help us to embrace our questions and doubts and not to fear them. Remind us that faith in you isn’t about having all the answers, but rather that we are engaged in a life-long journey of discovery – one in which we think we are searching for you, but in reality, it is you that continually pursues us. Blessed are they that can ask why, that can be uncomfortable, that live in the unknown, yet believe anyway. Amen.
