Prayer for September 19: Please pray with me. God who governs all creation, help us to trust today. We see so many terrible things around us, we hear about these things throughout the world. Yet we are told that all of creation is in your hand. We are told to have faith, yet that can be difficult. Today we ask that you strengthen our trust – trust in you, trust in ourselves, trust in others. Help us to see that trust is a foundation that can build up our world and society to something much better. Amen.
Prayer for September 2: Please pray with me. God of all knowing, where do we start? In our age of certainty, help us to remember that we know so very little. Remind us, shock us into it if needed, that faith in you is not contained in what we know about you. Faith is your gift to us. If we admit it, we would know that we can’t explain it. Help us to respond with trust – no matter how difficult that may be. Amen.
Prayer for August 24: Please pray with me. Hidden God, you walk with us in our times of trouble. When we think you have abandoned us and when you feel distant from us, open our eyes to see you where you are hidden – in the chaos, the pain, the poverty. You are there, right beside us in ways that we can never imagine. In your hiddenness, you reveal yourself. Give us the strength to trust in you regardless. Amen.
Prayer for July 14: Please pray with me. God of firsts, today we pray that you will open our eyes to see how you first moved in the world, in our lives and in the lives of others. Help us to see how you first gave us everything – life, love, trust, mercy, forgiveness, peace. Make us instruments of these things to those around us so that we may better see your kingdom unfolding right before our eyes. Amen.
Prayer for June 10: Please pray with me. Holy God, today we pray that we can be instruments of your peace. We pray that our society move from anger to trust. Give us the humility to make an effort to build trust with those around us today. Help us to be the first to act, the first to be open, the first to listen, the first to offer grace. Amen.
