Prayer for August 29

Prayer for August 29: Please pray with me.  God who is, today we pray for wisdom.  Give us insight to be able to tell others about you.  Not is ways that push people away.  Rather in ways that share how you change people’s lives.  It is in sharing this good news with others that conversations open up, relationships are built, and there is thriving life around us.  Make us instruments of your peace and builders of community.  Amen.

Prayer for July 7

Prayer for July 7: Please pray with me.  God of leadership, where do we begin?  Our culture seems to lack leadership – leadership that creates an environment where all can thrive, where there can be peace, where we pursue justice, where we are good stewards, where we treat others with respect.  Give leaders wisdom to know that leadership is best when it seeks the good for as many as possible.  Amen.

Prayer for March 10

Prayer for March 10. Please pray with me. God of wisdom, today we pray that you would grant all leaders wisdom – leaders of government, church, non-profits, education, business, service organizations, military, and all organizations. Give these leaders the wisdom to move us towards your kingdom.  Grant us wisdom too, individually, that we may live your call for our lives to be peacemakers, to show love, to be merciful, and to love our neighbors and enemies.  Amen.

Prayer for February 20

Prayer for February 20: Please pray with me. God of wisdom, today we thank you for crazy sounding things that you tell us in your Gospel.  They sound crazy to the world – things like love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.  Yet, we know that humanity’s history is full of insanity – people killing each over time and time again and expecting a different result.  Who’s the crazy one?  Seems like we are.  Give us the courage to do what the world thinks is crazy – to love our enemies.  Amen.

Prayer for January 20

Prayer for January 20: Please pray with me. God of the nations, today we pray for the United States.  We pray for our new President and all new government officials.  We pray that our government officials would seek peace, listen to wisdom, and create an environment were all can thrive.  Remind us that no matter how powerful a government or leader may be, they are ultimately servants.  Remind our officials that no matter what their rank or authority, they are not our savior or salvation – only you are.  Open our eyes to see past the labels and identities we give ourselves – political party, nationality, etc. Instead, help us to see ourselves and others as you see us – Children of God.  Amen.
